"A simple & clean apartment. What really made the difference was the friendly service from the owners. As a non-driver the organising of lifts to and from Granada was enormously helpful. I'd recommend this property to walkers. The location was terrific too."

"The casita was lovely and cosy with stunning views of the valley. We only stayed for 3 nights before returning to Granada but it was a great base for two big day walks. After arriving from the hustle and bustle of Cordoba, the piece and quite was just what we needed."

The main attraction of the region is its inspirational beauty, peace and tranquility. It is situated on the edge of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park and UNESCO Biosphere reserve, so is a spectacular hiking destination. There are walking routes sign posted from the villages. Routes range from short strolls to full-day hikes and two long distance routes. Organised tours are available as well as other activities like horse riding, mountain biking, cañoning, climbing, bird-watching and paragliding. We are also within 1 ½ hour drive of the Sierra Nevada ski area. A small, but fascinating museum, Casa Alpujarreña, housing artifacts from times gone by can be found in the main plaza alongside the church.
Other villages/cities: The two other white Moorish villages of Pampaneira to the south and Capileira to the north are both 2km away and easy to walk to. The larger village of Orgiva is 15km down the mountain in the valley. Granada and the awe-inspiring Alhambra palace are a 1 hour and 15 minutes drive away.
Coast/Beach: The beaches of Motril, Almuñecar and Salobreña on the Costa Tropical are an hour drive away.
Fiestas: The fiesta of San Antón is during the penultimate weekend of August and the fiesta of San Sebastián is held on the weekend closest to the 20th January and includes four days of non-stop music, dancing and merry-making.
